The LiIon Charger is a small board which can be powered via USB or through standard headers, and charges a standard single-cell LiIon/LiPoly battery pack.

Project Status

Schematic/board done, BOM on file at Digikey, awaiting sending board to BatchPCB for prototype production.

Design Overview/Ideas

  • Based around the LM3658 LiIon charger IC
  • Uses an ATtiny25 to communicate via USB and request 500mA from the host (if allowed)
    • Using the V-USB stack to keep cost down, no need for a full USB-capable ATwhatever for this
  • Can either use onboard connectors for USB/battery, or connect to them via the standard headers on the board
